About Us

Spiritual Icon Records, established in 2006, was created as a vehicle for producing and distributing the Della Resse CD “Give It To God”.  Founded by TC Campbell and Della Reese, whose experience includes their achievements in the R&B, Jazz, and Gospel Music Industries over many, many years. We formed this independent company to make a difference in  the entertainment community.  Given the stature and legendary career of Della Reese, it did not seem necessary to go the traditional method of going through a major label.  We believe using the internet and resources that we have acquired over the years, we can and will do this ourselves. Our company will offer a variety of artists whose lyrics will be enforced by truth, gleaned from and nurtured by the experience of living these lyrics. There will be musicians playing with musical vigor that makes their improvisations believable and hearfelt. This label will not be about "Eye Candy" or "Riffs and Hooks" that never end. We want to present music that expresses a healing of the pains of life and the courage for new beginnings.

TC Campbell & Della ReeseThomas "TC" Campbell, Co-Founder and CEO Spiritual Icon Records, was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, known as “TC”, attended Tennessee State University, where he majored in music.  In 1977, while playing keyboards in Nashville, “TC” met singer, Peabo Bryson. The two  bonded and  went on to record the album “Crosswinds”  and tour for the next two years. During this time, "TC" co-wrotethe title song “We’re The Best of Friends” featuring Peabo and Natalie Cole.  His career began to flourish after joining the group Cameo in late 1979, there he performed and wrote the recordings “I Like It” and “Knights By Knight”.  In 1983, he became musical director for Evelyn “Champagne” King.  His talent and out going personality attracted the attention of Jeffery Osborne in 1985.  Osborne quickly enlisted his service as musical director for the next six years. Together they wrote and co-produced “Who Would Have Guessed”, “Love’s Not Ready” and “Come Midnight” on Osborne’s “Emotional” album. Over the years, “TC’s” production accomplishments have included award winning radio commercials, “Let’s Clear The Air” and “Car Pool Lane” for Caltrans, “Million Seller” for the Youth Crisis Line, “Little Secret” for Verizon. He also provided music for “There Goes A’ Series”, a kid’s video for Time/Warner Films.  As the music director for “Dark Legends In Blood” (The Play), "TC" received the prestigious 2003-2004 NAACP Theatre Award for Best Musical Director.  He stays busy arranging and composing for numerous projects. 1994 was the start of a wonderful relationship with the legendary Della Reese who recognized his versatile abilities from the first time they met.  “TC” took over the responsibilities of music director and composer for Ms. Reese and works as musical director for the Understanding Principles Church in Los Angeles in which she is minister. When Della Reese was invited to perform as featured artist for the July 4th, 1997 Celebration at the Hollywood Bowl, “TC” composed and orchestrated her songs for the Bowl’s orchestra performance.   In 1997, "TC" started appearing on and worked as music coordinator on the CBS television hit series “Touched By An Angel".   Accompanying the late Luther Vandross on a special episode, was one of the highlights of his experience with the show.
Now “TC” has produced “Give It To God”, an uplifting inspirational gospel CD featuring his friend, mentor, and partner Della Reese.
